Capi vs Moneko 2026: an honest side-by-side

By Daniil Kozin · ex-banker · Florianópolis · Updated 19 May 2026

Moneko and Capi are both Telegram-first money trackers, which makes this the most direct comparison on the page. Moneko has a longer history and a polished free tier; Capi adds multi-currency, parcela parsing, couples support, and a chat advisor. If you only need solo single-currency tracking, Moneko is fine. If you cross currencies or split money, Capi extends further.

What is the quick verdict?

Pick Moneko if you live in one currency, you want a free telegram tracker with no friction, and the simpler product is what you need.

Pick Capi if you cross currencies, split money with a partner, need installment parsing, or want a chat advisor that answers spending questions.

I am the founder of Capi, so this comparison cannot be neutral. I have tried to be fair where the rival is stronger and explicit where Capi is. If you spot a place I got something wrong, write to me and I will correct it.

How do the prices compare?

Moneko offers a free tier with most features and Premium around $4.99/month for advanced reports. Capi has a permanent free tier with unlimited transactions, Core at $9.90/month or $69.90/year, and Together at $99/year for couples. For solo single-currency users, Moneko Free is cheaper. For couples or multi-currency users, Capi is the better value.

Does Moneko support multiple currencies?

Moneko supports manual multi-currency tracking but is not built around it. Cross-currency rollup requires manual conversion at entry. Capi commits each transaction in its native currency at entry time, with rates captured at the moment, and rolls up to a chosen main currency. Seven currencies plus learned aliases.

Which is better for couples?

Moneko has limited shared-account features. Capi Together at $99/year is purpose-built for couples: per-person attribution, #mine flag for private purchases, per-person month splits, joint goals with contribution tracking. If you split money with a partner, Capi is the clear winner.

Does Moneko parse credit-card installments?

Moneko does not natively parse parcela / cuota / rata installment patterns from Brazilian, Argentine, Mexican, or Italian credit cards. Capi has dedicated installment parsing across LATAM and EU card formats. For users in Brazil paying via parcelado, this is a real workflow difference.

How does each handle CSV and PDF imports?

Moneko supports CSV imports with basic parsing. Capi takes CSV and PDF from any bank globally, with per-bank format detection, installment extraction, and deduplication via source_row_hash. Capi's PDF parsing is currently the broader of the two.

Does either have a chat advisor?

Capi has a chat advisor that answers spending questions in seven languages ("how much did I spend on groceries last month?", "what's my runway?"). Moneko has report generation but not a conversational advisor. If you like asking questions in plain language, Capi is the right tool.

Where does Moneko simply win?

Maturity and audience in BR. Moneko has been on Telegram longer, has a polished free tier, and an established user base in Brazil. Its UX inside the bot is well-iterated. If you are a Brazilian solo user who wants a free Telegram tracker without extra features, Moneko is a perfectly reasonable choice.

Where does Capi simply win?

Multi-currency native. Couples at $99/year. Parcela / cuota / rata parsing. Photo OCR with installment extraction. Chat advisor. CSV + PDF coverage. Seven UI languages. A web mini-app dashboard outside Telegram. Investment-income classification (NTN-B, dividends, TED-Str). Bank attribution and per-bank analytics.

Which one should you actually choose?

Solo, single-currency, Brazil-only, free-only? Try Moneko. Cross-currency, couple, LATAM with parcelas, want a chat advisor or web dashboard, willing to pay for Core or Together? Try Capi. Both are good products serving overlapping but different needs.
