Terms

Last updated: 23 April 2026 · Version 2026-04-23

Short version. Capi is a personal-finance chatbot on Telegram. You tell it what you spent, it remembers and helps you make sense of it. These terms cover what Capi will and won't do, what you're on the hook for, and how either of us can walk away. If you use Capi Together (the couples tier), a few extra clauses apply.

Who you're dealing with

Service provider: Capi (trading name operated by the Capi team). General contact: hello@cappi.io. Privacy and data requests: privacy@cappi.io.

"Capi", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the team that runs the @MeetCapi_Bot and the cappi.io website. "You" is whoever is using the service. These terms apply the moment you tap "I agree" during onboarding, or the moment you send any message to the bot after that.

What Capi is

Capi is a conversational assistant that logs your transactions, organizes them, summarizes them, and answers money questions you ask. It runs inside Telegram and, at your option, mirrors results to a web dashboard at cappi.io.

Capi is not a bank, not a broker, not a payment processor, not a tax advisor, and not a licensed financial planner. Capi offers general information and organization, not regulated financial advice. If you need regulated advice, talk to someone who is licensed where you live.

Your account and eligibility

Free, trial, and paid tiers

All prices in USD. Prices can change; if they do, changes apply to new purchases and to renewals after you're notified, never to a term you've already paid for.

How you pay

You can pay with Telegram Stars inside the bot, or by card through our payment processor on cappi.io. The processor sees your payment details; Capi sees only that payment succeeded and for which plan. Refunds follow the processor's terms and the rules of your country where stronger.

Auto-renewal and cancellation

Paid plans renew at the end of each term unless cancelled. Cancel anytime by messaging the bot ("cancel subscription") or emailing hello@cappi.io. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the term you've paid for. No partial refunds for unused days on a prepaid term except where your local consumer law requires otherwise (for example, the EU 14-day right of withdrawal for the first purchase, if you haven't already started using the paid features).

Capi Together (couples tier)

Capi Together joins two Telegram accounts into one shared "household" so both people can log into the same month. If you buy Together, accept a Together invite, or otherwise join a household, the following applies on top of the rest of these terms.

Your content and your rights in it

Everything you send Capi, including transactions, photos, voice notes, and chat history, is yours. You keep all rights in it. You grant Capi a narrow, non-transferable licence to process your content for the sole purpose of providing the service: storing it, displaying it back to you, computing summaries, and passing single inputs to the language-model providers listed in our Privacy page. The licence ends when your content is deleted.

We do not fine-tune any model on your content. We do not sell, share, or show your content to anyone outside the Capi team, except the processors named in the Privacy page, and except where required by law.

Our stuff

The Capi brand, the capybara character, the site, the bot, and the code behind them are ours. You can use Capi as a user; you cannot copy the service, scrape the site, or build a competing product on top of our code without written permission.

Things you agree not to do

What Capi can and can't guarantee

Capi is delivered "as is". The service relies on third-party infrastructure (Telegram, language-model providers, payment processors), any of which can go down. We do our best to keep everything running and accurate, but we cannot promise 100% uptime or 100% correct categorization. Always sanity-check Capi's numbers before you act on them in the real world.

Capi is not a substitute for professional advice. Decisions about loans, investments, taxes, or major purchases are yours alone.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows where you live, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Capi is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or USD 50. We are not liable for indirect losses, including lost savings, lost opportunities, or consequential harm. Nothing in this section limits anything that can't legally be limited (for example, liability for fraud or gross negligence, or your statutory consumer rights).

Suspension and termination

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the system, or causes harm to another user. Where the breach is fixable, we'll tell you first. You can close your account at any time by sending /forget or emailing privacy@cappi.io; that deletes your data per the Privacy page.

Changes to these terms

If the rules change, the date at the top changes with them. For material changes (price, scope, your rights), the bot will message you before they take effect and ask you to re-accept. Continuing to use Capi after a material change means you accept it; if you don't, you can send /forget and you're out.

Law and where disputes go

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Capi team is established, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country. If you are a consumer in the EU, you can also rely on your local law. Disputes will be handled in the courts of our establishment unless your local law requires otherwise; you can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
